Doctor Who’s return last night was a ratings hit with up to 10.5 million viewers tuning in.
The show averaged 9.9million viewers equating to 43.2% of the audience share.
This represents over 4 million viewers more than BBC1’s flagship soap ‘EastEnders’ has scored recently (6.4m on March 17th) and beats the third season of Spooks (as low as 4.5m and peaking at 6.1m) and recent dramas such as Supervolcano (7m).
Ant & Dec, which bookmakers had suggested would beat the Timelord’s revival, fell by a million on the previous week’s figures with just 7.2million.
A BBC spokesperson said: “We’re pleased so many people sat down as a family to watch the return of the Doctor”
