US retailer Barnes & Noble says its nook ebook reader will be available in the UK from October.
The nook and nook GlowLight – an e-ink reader with a lit screen – will be available from nook.co.uk and “leading retailers” who Barnes & Noble said would be announced “shortly”.
Earlier this year Waterstones – long thought to be B&N’s most likely retailer partner – announced a deal to retail Amazon’s Kindle. WHSmith already has a deal to sell Kobo’s range in its stores.
“We are proud to be able to offer our top-rated line of NOOK reading devices and our award- winning digital bookstore to the discerning and highly educated consumers in the UK,” said B&N CEO William J. Lynch.
Both models offer WiFi connectivity to Barnes & Noble’s eBook store, allowing instant purchases and access to books.
