Published by BBC Audiobooks on 1 May price 13.99, 2 CDs
ISBN: 1846070805, Duration: 2 hours 35 minutes
This word has become legendary in the annals of TV terror, ever since the Daleks first appeared on screen in Doctor Who. From 1963 to the present day, the Daleks have been amongst the most loved (and feared!) science fiction baddies.
Now, in an exclusive BBC Audiobooks presentation, Nick Briggs – who is the voice of the Daleks in the brand new BBC One TV series – presents everything you wanted to know about the meanies, but were too afraid to ask.
Packed with extracts from their many TV appearances in Doctor Who, ‘The Dalek Conquests’ finds out where the Daleks come from, why they are bent on universal domination, and who was behind their original creation.
Commissioning Editor Michael Stevens said: This is the perfect way for fans new and old to uncover the fictional history of the Doctor and the Daleks. Since 1963 theyve been encountering one another on our screens and its great fun to have that story told as one long saga. Nicholas came to our studios to record his linking material in December. Hearing him recreate the authentic Dalek sound was spine-chilling.”
For Dalek fans new and old, this is essential listening.
The Dalek Conquests is released on CD price 13.99 and is available online from BBCshop.com, all good retailers and BBC Audiobooks direct mail on 0800 136 919
Just What the Doctor Ordered:
David Tennant narrates three new Doctor Who titles for BBC Audiobooks
Fresh from his Christmas regeneration, tenth Time Lord David Tennant has confirmed he will be narrating three brand new Doctor Who titles: The Stone Rose, The Resurrection Casket, and The Feast of the Drowned exclusively for BBC Audiobooks.
Set for release in July, David will start recording next month. The three titles are new adventures for the Doctor and his companion Rose and is the first time David will feature in his role as the Doctor outside of the television series.
The CDs will also include special bonus material featuring children from across the UK asking the Doctor everything theyve ever wanted to know about life as the Time Lord.
Commissioning Editor Kate Walsh said: I’m absolutely delighted that David will be reading these three books for us, not only because you’ll be guaranteed a cracking listen with him bringing the stories to life but also due to how special it will make the audio books for fans of the TV series. It was very important to us that these releases appealed to these fans as well as our established audio book buyers, and having David read means we can include some added extras for those interested in hearing more about him, on top of the terrifically exciting stories written by Stephen Cole, Jacqueline Rayner and Justin Richards. They will make fantastic publications!
