The BBC is bringing its ‘live restart’ feature to the Freesat programme guide, allowing viewers to watch shows which have already begun right from the start.
Live restart is already available on iPlayer versions for browsers, mobile apps and connected TVs but Freesat users will be the first to be able to access it from the EPG, allowing them to start watching without having to open the iPlayer app first.
Dan Taylor-Watt, head of BBC iPlayer, said: “Live restart is one of BBC iPlayer’s most popular features, particularly as more and more people are watching live.
“By building it in to the EPG, this new integration extends the benefits of live restart to Freesat viewers in a very simple, intuitive way.
“It’s the first integration of its kind, but we hope to work with more partners in the future to bring this function to as many people as possible.”
