Following speculation over the last few days, the BBC have confirmed that Billie Piper is likely to leave Doctor Who during the second series.
Responding to press reports a BBC spokesperson said “With regard to how many episodes she will be in, we are currently story-lining series two.”
Piper has proven very popular with long term and new fans of the show.
News of her departure follows the announcement that David Tennant will replace Christopher Eccleston in the title role.
