The BBC are planning to film all 37 of Shakespeare’s works over the next 12 years reports today’s Telegraph.
It’s understood that the corporation has enlisted Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes and his Neal Street company to produce the films. Mendes is said to be directing a number of the works himself with the rest being entrusted to other high calibre directors.
The paper quotes a BBC spokeswoman as saying: ‘We are at an early stage at the moment, but we are planning to do the complete of works of Shakespeare with Sam Mendes and his Neal Street production company.’
