BBC Uphold Complaint Against Judge John Deed

The BBC’s Editorial Complaints Unit has upheld a complaint that an episode of Judge John Deed gave the impression that the MMR vaccine was harmful to children’s health.

The episode in question, Heart of Darkness – 10th February 2006, featured a case in which a mother is being sued by her ex-husband for refusing to give their baby the MMR vaccination.

The ECU agreed that the episode was "e;in conflict with the obligation of due impartiality on matters of public controversy"e; and it has been decided "e;that the episode in question would not be re-broadcast, except in a context in which the requirements of impartiality were met."e;
