ITV has commissioned a second series of Safe House, it’s new crime drama which debuted to peak audiences of more than 7.3m.
The show stars Christopher Eccleston as former detective Robert who, along with his wife Katy (Marsha Thomason), runs a guest house used by the police to protect vulnerable witnesses.
Series two also sees the return of Paterson Joseph who plays Robert’s former colleague and will bring viewers “a brand new four-part story”.
“We had a tremendous reaction from the audience to Safe House,” said ITV’s Director of Drama Steve November.
“From the gripping story and compelling performances, we were delighted with every aspect of the production. With Ed Whitmore and Tracey Malone writing the scripts and Jill and Paula producing we know the new series will be in safe hands,” he added.
Filming will begin in the Lake District in February 2016.
