2|Entertain and BBC DVD have announced the re-release of 8 existing classic series DVDs in new packaging designed to appeal to to a new audience.
The titles are:
- The Five Doctors
- Genesis of the Daleks
- Spearhead from Space
- Earthshock
- Remembrance of the Daleks
- The TV Movie
- The Hand of Fear
- Revelation of the Daleks
The content of the discs will be exactly as before but each disc will sell at a lower price point and come in a specially designed cardboard sleeve.
BBC DVD intends for fans of the classic Doctor Who DVDs to understand this is a promotional sleeve, and not new product. To avoid customer confusion, the inner sleeve is fact is clearly illustrated on the reverse of each sleeve with the accompanying statement “Packaging contains previously released product”.
In addition, BBC DVD is informing science fiction magazines and websites of its plans well in advance of the promotion commencing.
Doctor Who classic series DVDs will continue to be released using the established design, so that fans can build their DVD collection with a consistent look.
