BBC Worldwide, the corporation’s commercial arm, will be out in force at the 2005 Brand Licensing event.
In a press release issues today Worldwide say they will be announcing a new licensing deal at the event and invite buyers and press to join them on October 25th for the announcement.
Doctor Who will be amongst the BBC properties showcased at the event. According to the press release:
“The master toy licensee for Doctor Who, Character Group, have just launched their eagerly anticipated first toy range which includes a radio-controlled Dalek, walkie talkies of the new Slitheen Monster & the Doctor and battling daleks.
Character Groups range will be joined by further products including board games from Toybrokers, jigsaws from Ravensburger and stationery and tableware from DNC.
Following the huge success of the first series, which began airing on BBC ONE in March 2005, a second 13-part series and Christmas special have been produced. High-profile actor David Tennant, best known for the title role in the hugely well-received Casanova, steps into the role of the Doctor.
From exhilarating experiences to deadly confrontations, the alien Doctor opens the eyes of his earthly companion, Rose, to a whole new world.
During their epic adventures, the two become the best of friends as they encounter lethal enemies such as the Slitheen, the Gelth and the Doctor’s Ultimate Enemy, the Daleks.
The second series also sees the return of the dreaded Cybermen.”
