BBC Worldwide have confirmed that Doctor Who will be amongst the brands showcased at the 2005 Brand Licensing Show.
Today’s press release says: “The master toy licensee for Doctor Who, Character Group, has just launched its eagerly anticipated first toy range which includes a radio-controlled Dalek, Walkie Talkies of the new Slitheen Monster & the Doctor and battling Daleks.
The toy range will be complemented by further products including board games from Toybrokers, jigsaws by Ravensburger and stationery and tableware from DNC.
Following the huge success of the first series, which began airing on BBC ONE in March 2005, a second 13-part series and Christmas special have been produced. High-profile actor David Tennant, best known for the title role in the hugely well-received Casanova, steps into the role of the tenth Doctor.
From exhilarating new experiences to deadly confrontations, the alien Doctor opens his earthly companion, Rose’s eyes to a whole new world. During their epic adventures, the two become the best of friends as they encounter lethal enemies such as the Slitheen, the Gelth and the Doctor’s Ultimate Enemy, the Daleks.
The second series also sees the return of the dreaded Cybermen.”
The full release, which lists the other brands on show, can be found on the BBC Press Office website.
