yes I think most of my dislike is down to the fact I thought I was in for something a little more sophisticated. If they dropped the violence they could have moved this to a DW timeslot and pulled in a family audience who would have loved the cheese

Would someone at the BBC please put the spade down? The hole is deep enough.

Maybe not as witty as it should be but

Dear BBC

After watching the extended 'Dead Ringers' sketch on Tuesday (BBC One, 9pm) I wanted to say how delighted I was that the BBC have finally embraced the 1 hour single comedy sketch format.

'Time Team meets CSI' is a concept long overdue and it's a stroke of genius that the BBC recognised the set-up worked better as a standalone piece.

Clearly BBC comedy budgets aren't as big as those from dramas but I thought the makeup was nevertheless very good and John Culshaw was pretty convincing in the role of the plucky student.

I realise one has to be careful about signposting parody but is ot possible that the decision to drop the 'Dead Ringers' branding might have led some people to think they were tuning in to a major new drama?

Episode Two :

much better but still some awful writing... terribly gooey last 5mins (God Bless America!)

oh and there *were* white slaves and there still are white slaves despite what the dean of the university said at one point.

Much better but still confused and poorly written imo

Well as someone who watched Footballers Wives and The Palace you know I'd never stop anyone else watching or enjoying a show. Personally I'm with the 1.6million who didn't come back this week for Ep2 ;-)

I actually enjoyed it. Did a couple of head spinny things with incorrect history (Peej you're so right) but I'm getting used to TV doing what it wants with history to make a plot run smoothly! I rather liked the little bits of research thrown in. I'm hoping it won't go all gooey with personal relationships getting in the way.

Missed the first one by the way but I'll judge it fully after the next couple based on whether I'm still watching it or not.
