Two million customers have signed up to EE’s super-fast 4G mobile broadband services, according to the the network’s latest update.
The company says the 2 million milestone is double the number it expected to join by 2013.
The service now reaches 160 towns and cities and EE says coverage will exceed 70% of the UK population by the end of January
Announcing the subscriber numbers, EE CEO Olaf Swantee said: “Our 4G launch in October 2012 marked a new era for mobile users, allowing consumers and businesses to do much more on the move.
“We’re incredibly proud of being the first UK operator to bring 4G to the UK and, in just over a year, exceeding our target by reaching two million 4G customers across the country.”
Olaf revealed that around two thirds of new 4G customers are migrating from EE’s Orange and T-Mobile brands.
