Fifth series for BBC One’s Waterloo Road

Waterloo Road, the BBC One school-based drama, is to return for a fifth series, the BBC confirmed yesterday.
The new 20 part series will see Headteacher Rachel pushed to the limit as she deals with a merger between Waterloo Road and a local school.
Both staffroom and playground become the scene of clashes of culture as the two very different sets of teachers and pupils struggle to adjust to change.
Ben Stephenson, BBC Drama Controller, commented: “Waterloo Road consistently delivers an entertaining mix of bold characters, powerful issues and compelling stories to a mainstream audience and plays a vital role delivering younger, more diverse audiences to the BBC, I look forward to it returning for a fifth series later this year.”
Returning cast members include Angela Griffin, Denise Welch, Jason Done and Philip Martin Brown.
Executive Producer Sharon Hughff said: “We’re delighted with the recommission. Waterloo Road is an excellent show and I am looking forward to working with the team to produce another exciting 20 episodes.”
i’m so happy that eva pope is coming back for a 5th series – i would’nt watch it if she wasn’t it – i’ve become obsessed with waterloo road since her arrival to the show – but in this article it doesnt say if eddie is returning – he better return cos we want to see rachel and eddie together properly as a couple – waterloo road would’nt be the same without both eddie and rachel there together in series 5!!!!!!
Im sooooo, happy waterloo road is returning with a series 5. Im also glad eva pope will be in the 5th series as well, because i thimk she is a great character. I really hope aswell, that eddie will be returning as rachel and eddie work together great.
ive become really addicted to the show and csnnot wait for the next series. Lovin series four atm tho. Great story lines!!!

iv watched it religiously since the begining but i dont think its ever been as good as it is now!! i never thought theyd recover from killing izzy and getting rid of jack, but i love the new characters possibly even more!! i cant imagine waterloo raod wihtout eva pope now or neil morriesy! rachel is fab and i so hope her and eddie make a real go of it and are both back for series 5!
