Robert Wagner, Eighties heart-throb in Hart To Hart and best known to younger audiences as ‘Number Two’ in the Austin Powers movies, stars in the first of a new series of the hit con-based drama Hustle which returns to BBC One later this month.
This fourth series is the first without the team’s leader Mickey who has headed off Australia to help pull off a major con. With Mickey out of the way Danny (Marc Warren) feels it’s time for him to finally take the lead.
For the first time the series goes Stateside, filming in both Los Angeles and the con man’s ultimate paradise, Las Vegas where the team have managed to rope in movie memorabilia collector Anthony Westley, played by Wagner.
With their mark identified the team sets about convincing him that they can sell him the ultimate collectable – the famous Hollywood Sign which they convince Westley is about to be replaced with a brand-new one.
Ash poses as Richard Hamilton, the man in charge of maintenance of the sign who is now overseeing its sale.
To make this happen, they need to get the real Richard Hamilton out of sight.
Luckily, Hamilton has delusions of grandeur and a very confused secretary. Stacie lures him away with the promise of an important multi-network interview, while Ash and Danny work on the secretary to get into his office building.
This series will introduce the team’s newest recruit – Billy Bond who is played by Ashley Walters of So Solid Crew fame.
