It seems anyone who has registered for O2's iPhone 4 mailing list will be automatically sent a "blank" micro sim to allow them to transfer an existing number to a new iPhone. Enquiring about their upgrade deal, I contacted O2 customer services and asked what would happen if I instead purchased a pay as you go iPhone 4 - could I get a new micro sim with my existing in-contract phone? Apparently so, I was advised … [Read more...]
O2's time limited iPhone 4 upgrade offer
I swore I wasn't going to get all excited about the new iPhone after the frustratingly long wait for my iPad but O2's teasing about their "limited time special upgrade offer" has whetted my appetite. Lord only knows what the offer will actually be but like the sucker for shiny new gadgets I am, I've subscribed to their mailing list. Hopefully the offer is decent - I'd happily shell out a small(ish) amount of cash … [Read more...]
Guardian releases paid-for news iPhone app
I'm a big fan of the Telegraph and Sky news iPhone apps, both offer a great breadth of coverage for free. But they have a new rival in the guide of the Guardian's new paid-for app (asking price £2.39) which launched today. I've always been a big fan of the Telegraph's app but the refreshed version is a marked improvement and delivers on the promised faster loading times. … [Read more...]
Let the Storm 2 be the last iPhone-a-like handset

As I've written before, I'm a great Blackberry fan but like many lovers of the 'email on the move' device I was less than impressed with what I saw of the Blackberry Storm. Admittedly my experiences were limited to playing around with friends phones but I was deeply unimpressed with the build quality and the touchscreen experience left a lot to be desired. Reviews for the Storm weren't exactly complimentary and a … [Read more...]
iGoLoco – club listings on your iPhone

A couple of weeks back I was sent a preview of iGoLoco, a new listings app now available in the iPhone app store. The app lists clubs and venues nearest to you with details of what's on that day and provides ticket prices, contact details and a map plus lets you search what's happening on future dates as well as by event, artist or genre. The interface is nicely laid out and the app feels a lot faster than many … [Read more...]
