When we caught up with the Kobo team back in April, they explained how that thinking behind the Glo HD was to make reading as simple and enjoyable as possible both for existing ebook fans and, more importantly, the legions of book lovers who’ve so far turned their noses up at reading on a screen.
Priced £109.99, the device will be available in Canada, the US, Australia, and New Zealand from the 1st May, with French shoppers able to snap them up from May 22nd, while those in Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, and Spain will can get them the same day as UK buyers.
Tesco is shutting its blinkbox Books service and transferring all customers to rival ebook retailer Kobo. The move follows Tesco’s sale of the main blinkbox movie and TV show streaming service to TalkTalk earlier this year.
WH Smith has extended its ebook partnership with Kobo for a further four years despite noting slowing growth and value in the sector.
