BBC re-commissions Merlin

BBC One Controller Jay Hunt has confirmed that Merlin, the channel’s re-telling of the Arthurian legend, is to return for a second series with stars Colin Morgan, Bradley James, Anthony Head and Richard Wilson all set to reprise their roles.

Modern and classic drama were the centre point of this weekend’s telly viewing, plus I finally got to see Peter Kay’s hilarious and painfully accurate spoof of the X-Factor and I’m wishing the week away so I can see what BBC One’s Apparitions has in store for us in the series finale.

I’m not sure if it’s always been with us and I’ve just not noticed before but there seems to be a growing amount of ‘Oh, that’ll do’ TV – programs where the writing is blatantly unbelievable and yet no-one involved seems to care.

BBC One will be hoping Merlin help to enchant audiences when the 13-part series starts this September.
This new take on the legend follows the unlikely friendship of would-be wizard Merlin (Colin Morgan) and Prince Arthur (Bradley James). The cast also includes Richard Wilson as Gaius, Anthony Head as King Uther Pendragon, rising star Angel Coulby as Guinevere and newcomer Katie McGrath as Morgana.
