A robot invasion, or something more viral?

Blogs, social networks and video sharing sites such as YouTube are bristling with reports of sightings of mysterious robots in cities and famous landmarks around the world, including Tokyo, Berlin, Rome, and Barcelona. From around the globe, ordinary members of the public have been posting videos and photos of these sightings.
