The deal guarantees customers in the UK and Ireland will continue to enjoy favourite channels like Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Cartoonito, TCM and CNN International.
Demand for the firm’s TV business had been flat with customer numbers at the start of this year lower than in December 2010.
After years of being saddled with slowing TiVos which have been outpaced by Sky and BT’s efforts, Virgin Media has finally confirmed its customers are also getting a new set top box.
The deal covers original commissions as well as acquired content and will see top shows, including Taskmaster, Nev Calling India, Quantico, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, Only Fools & Horses and Sherlock, join Virgin Media’s on demand library.
Last month the broadband and pay-TV rivals announced that they’s struck a wholesale deal which would see the channel, which from this year becomes the exclusive home of Champions and Europa leagues, added to Virgin Media’s platform.
