After years of being saddled with slowing TiVos which have been outpaced by Sky and BT’s efforts, Virgin Media has finally confirmed its customers are also getting a new set top box.
The deal covers original commissions as well as acquired content and will see top shows, including Taskmaster, Nev Calling India, Quantico, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, Only Fools & Horses and Sherlock, join Virgin Media’s on demand library.
Last month the broadband and pay-TV rivals announced that they’s struck a wholesale deal which would see the channel, which from this year becomes the exclusive home of Champions and Europa leagues, added to Virgin Media’s platform.
Virgin Media customers can now watch 4Music, CBS Action, CBS Drama, Extreme Sports, The Horror Channel and Sony SAB on the move after they were added to the firm’s popular Virgin TV Anywhere service.
The new plans move the cost of the handset to a separate credit agreement, helping consumers understand how much of their monthly bill is going on airtime and how much on the device.
First announced in June, UKTV Play will offer full box sets of some UKTV’s most popular programmes, including Crackanory and David Attenborough’s Natural Curiosities.
