Like all Doctor Who fans we have been saddened to hear of the untimely death of Michael Sheard at the age of 65.
The BBC report his agent has announced that “he had cancer and died at home on the Isle of Wight.”
Micheal was best known for playing Mr Bronson in the BBC’s long-running children’s TV drama Grange Hill but also appeared in a number of Doctor Who stories including the classic Pyramid of Mars as Laurence Scarman as well as the Star Wars film ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’.
Personally speaking I have fond memories of getting very ‘merry’ with Michael at a number of conventions where he was a firm favourite and great fun. A friendly and welcoming man, he will be greatly missed.
Our friends at Kasterborous.com have published a full obituary to Michael.
