Electronic cigarettes are growing in popularity with some reports suggesting that they may even eventually overtake sales of tobacco cigarettes.
A recent survey found that over 1.3 million people in the UK are now using these electric devices.
The technology used in e-cigarettes is been continually developed and improved with one of the most recent additions to the market being Vype.
These new Vype electronic cigarettes are aimed at existing smokers and are designed to look and feel like a conventional tobacco cigarette.
The first generation of e-cigarettes were bulky and looked obviously like a vaping device and not like a cigarette. With advances in technology they have since got a lot smaller and the new Vype range of disposable e-cigarettes are almost the same size as a king-size cigarette and a similar weight.
They also feature a soft-tip filter unlike most other devices which have a hard plastic mouthpiece.
The soft-tip filter aims to offer a more realistic experience. The design of them mimics a cigarette and there is an LED light on the end which glow a soft red colour when the device is in use, again adding to the look of a traditional cigarette.
The Vype electronic cigarette range currently includes three different disposable models, including a menthol flavoured e-cigarette. These particular e-cigarettes are disposable meaning you don’t have to carry around a charger or refill e-liquid, you can throw them away when run out.
The e-liquid vapour released when using an electronic cigarette can have the appearance of smoke, with some establishments choosing to ban them as they cannot tell the difference from a distance between a tobacco cigarette and an e-cigarette device.
With these new electronic cigarettes looking more like a tobacco cigarette, we might start seeing them used in film and TV. For non-smoking actors and actresses they usually have to use menthol cigarettes if they are required to film a smoking scene, but could these new realistic looking e-cigarettes be an alternative?
Johnny Depp used an electronic cigarette in The Tourist, the decision to include one was reportedly on his insistence, but perhaps we will be seeing this new breed of realistic looking e-cigarettes on our screens in the near-future.
