The first two series of hit sitcom Plebs are moving to ITV after wowing audiences on spin-off channel ITV2.
Joel Fry, Tom Rosenthal and Ryan Sampson play under-achievers Marcus, Stylax and their slave Grumio, all of whom are desperate to live the “when in Rome” maxim to the full.
The history-themed show has won a Best Scripted Comedy gong at the Royal Television Society Awards, the Best New Comedy accolade at the British Comedy Awards and been nominated for two BAFTAs.
Over a million viewers regularly tuned in across the first two series, making it the highest-rated British comedy on a digital channel.
Bosses at ITV are now hoping to bring the show to a wider audience by repeating the first two series on their flagship channel, starting on Monday 29th June at 10.40pm.
ITV’s Director of Television, Peter Fincham said: “We are thrilled with the response to the first two series of Plebs, it really is a wonderful thing – and we’re really proud to have this comedy as part of our ITV family.”
