In a poll of more than 700 industry voices and film enthusiasts conducted by the iconic gin brand, 83 per cent said Hollywood is failing to take risks with more imaginative films.
More than half of those polled (57%) say audiences are shifting towards independent projects and short films in order to satisfy their desire for something different.
Last year launched a short film competition, inviting budding filmmakers to expand a script written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher (PRECIOUS).
Entrants were asked assign a location, motive and names to take Fletcher’s outline to the boundaries of their imagination.
More than 700 filmmakers from across the globe entered, between them covering every film genre and style. From those, five winners were selected by an expert judging panel and will be screened at this month’s Tribeca Film Festival.
