princess_brideRob Reiner and William Goldman’s classic fantasy/action/romance epic The Princess Bride is getting a limited cinema re-release next month ahead of a special 25th Anniversary Blu-ray release.

Directed by Reiner and adapted by Goldman from his own 1973 novel, the film stars Robin Wright Penn as Buttercup who is kidnapped on the eve of her wedding to Prince Humperdinck(Chris Sarandon), heir to the throne of Florin.

Her only chance of salvation rests with her childhood sweetheart Westley (Cary Elwes), long believed to have been killed at sea by the Dread Pirate Roberts.

Yet as kidnappers Vizzini, Fezzik the Giant and swordsman Inigo (carry Buttercup away, the trio become realise they’re being followed by a mysterious man in black…

Fans can re-live the film’s magic on the big screen at Vue Cinemas across the UK and Ireland on March 9,10 and 12th.

Released by Lionsgate Home Entertainment UK, the Blu-Ray edition goes on sale on March 25th and is packed with a treasure chest of extras including brand new features, archive interviews and audio commentaries from Reiner and Goldman.
