A fifth of UK households could be wasting money on under-used pay-TV subscriptions according to Loanable.com.
The firm has calculated that we’re wasting up to £360 per year on unnecessary or poor-value purchases, including buying takeaways (25%) and expensive work day lunches (21%) – make your own sandwiches guys! – and paying out for subscription TV packages we don’t really use (19%).
Given the UK’s highly competitive pay-TV market, there’s plenty of scope to shop around and make savings on the last of these, especially as most firms are desperate to keep hold of existing customers and will often offer you a deal if you threaten to cancel or downgrade your plan.
Or, if you really aren’t watching any of the subscription channels that come with your package, think about investing in a FreeView or YouView set top box and break the subscription habit entirely.
