Legendary TV current affairs series The Cook Report gets an update later this month when presenter Roger Cook travels the world to reveal what happened to some of the ground-breaking stories once the cameras stopped rolling for Roger Cook’s Greatest Hits.
The first edition of The Cook Report saw Cook on the trail of major league British villains on the run from the law yet living in luxury in southern Spain. They included Ronnie Knight, wanted for his part in one of Britains biggest ever robberies. He was one of 180 Brits villains living openly on the Costa del Crime thanks to the lack of an extradition treaty at the time between Spain and the UK.
Cook reveals what happened to Knight and other famous villains he tracked down in Spain. He also reports on the new criminals who stalk the Costas – violent, organised Eastern European gangs who put their British counterparts in the shade.
Also in the film Cook reveals how his 1996 report on security lapses at some American airports, Boston Logan in particular, were alarmingly prescient. Roger returns to Boston the airport from which the 9/11 terrorists set out. Here, he meets a former special agent for the Federal Aviation Authority who claims he warned the FAA about the state of security at the airport just months before 9/11.
