Ben Shephard has been announced as the host of ITV’s Krypton Factor revival, the biggest advertiser funded programme the broadcaster has ever commissioned.
The original series, which ran for 18-years before it was axed in 1995, was presented by Gordon Burns and tested contestants on their memory, logic and general knowledge before facing the infamous army assault course with its dramatic rope swing finish.
Producers promise even tougher challenged and a more gruelling assault course as the show is updated for the 21st century.
The revived show is part of Sage’s nationwide Business Brains campaign. The company has developed a website www.trainyourbusinessbrain.com which will feature additional footage from the show as well as games inspired by it to test Britain’s Business Brains.
Shephard said: “I’m really excited to be picking up the mantle from the legend, Gordon Burns. As a kid, I was desperate to have a go on the assault course and make a mess of the puzzles.”
Michael Kelpie, Executive Producer at ITV, said the presenter is “one of the most versatile presenters on television and is the perfect man for The Krypton Factor. He brings a genuine respect for the show having grown up watching the original series.”
