Sky Movies has gained exclusive UK broadcast and streaming rights to the eight Harry Potter films for a three month period.
The deal means rival channels and streaming services will be unable to air movies from the franchise, making Sky Movies – and its SkyGo and NOW TV outlets – the only place for fans to enjoy the films this Christmas.
All eight films will be available in HD for Sky customers with the HD pack and the last film in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, will also be shown on Sky 3D.
Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies said: “We’re delighted to be extending our partnership with Warner Bros’. to deliver Sky Movies customers exclusive access to the entire Harry Potter collection, which will not be available on any other TV channel or streaming service this Christmas.
“To make it even better, Sky Movies customers can also enjoy the entire series of films on demand through their Sky+HD box, or watch them while they are on the move via their smartphone or mobile tablet.”
Josh Berger CBE, President & Managing Director, Warner Bros. UK, Ireland and Spain added: “The Harry Potter film franchise is a uniquely British success story, one that was conceived and produced here in the UK with a largely British cast and crew and beloved by millions of people around the world.
“For the first time ever, Sky Movies customers can look forward to enjoying all of the movies in this record-breaking series in one place at one time.”
