Sony announce new Walkman range

January 8, 2009 by Martin Hoscik · 1 Comment

Personal audio pioneers Sony have announced the latest incarnations of their Walkman brand, including the X-series – a range of touchscreen MP3/video players.

The new touchscreen devices include support for all popular music and video formats and Wi-fi connectivity for easy YouTube streaming, Podcast direct downloading and internet browsing.

The ‘hybrid’ combination of large touchscreen plus dedicated music player buttons makes operation simple and intuitive.

If you’re watching videos, it’s easy to find the right moment in longer videos with the touchscreen’s new ‘Scene Scroll’ function.

The company has also announced a W series (pictured), a headphone style model with no cables.

Sony say a new ZAPPIN mode  on the model automatically detects and plays the main chorus part of each track, helping you find the song you want with just a few touches of the player’s jog dial.

The supplied ‘Content Transfer’ software enables easy ‘drag and drop’ transfer of non-DRM music files from online music services such as iTunes

  1. W Series – Thats a nifty idea, reminds me of the portable radios you used to be able to buy in the nineties
