WOULD YOU BUY A CAR WITHOUT AN ENGINE? September 5, 2010 elvis22 I've bought a couple of these. they have the potential to be a great little tool for doing work on the move - with one major flaw - which is down to the marketing.
Perhaps I should've known this (after all it seems that you have to be a complete IT geek just to use this stuff) but this PC DOES NOT COME WITH ANY MEMORY!!!!!
Or at least none of the type you can save your work, switch off, come back the next day, and its there to pick up. And there's nothing anywhere to warn of this: You are a geekthat just instrinctively knows that the DDR 64MB/2GB NAND FLASH internal memory specified - is all volatile. That means it stores stuff only whilst its on.
A real shame. There's also a debouncing problem with one key press producing multiple characters. There is an option in Control Panel on this - but it has no effect.
SO, IF BUYING A CAR WITHOUT WHEELS OR ENGINE IS THE THING TO DO, THEN THIS IS 4 U!
Underpowered (even for basic functions), freezes, and system can't save bookmarks September 2, 2010 streetyson (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Not sure what machine the good reviews are of, for this was a bad piece of kit for me. The system cannot retain any saved bookmarks (nor other settings like volume or display brightness) after switching off. Even when I did one thing at a time it was slow, and in the 10 short times I used it, when opening the power settings, or closing the browser (with only one window opened, in mobile CE browser mode), the system froze 4 times. And holding the "on" switch down for 4+ seconds would not power down the frozen unit, so I had to use a pin into a reset hole in the underside of the machine. And twice the "on" switch had to be pressed many times to get the machine to come on at all, and some of the other buttons were intermittently unresponsive (maybe poor sensors, but likely the tiny 64MB RAM or incapable processor). I set up wireless quickly but only by being computer savvy - the thin manual was next to useless, for that or anything else.
Which is all a great shame because I like the idea of this machine, and unlike some negative reviews (I read elsewhere) I thought it was a solid feeling, attractive unit. Just let down by being woefully underpowered and the software is not properly integrated - which is weird because Windows CE 5.0 is old hat. If you are technical, there might be, I've heard, a possible registry work-around for solving the bookmarks problem, but I've given up. Refund - fortunately Amazon's returns policy is great.
Great basic little internet browser August 15, 2010 A.Student 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Bought this so I could check emails and internet whenever wherever and it works. It works off wifi, have a mifi with a pay as you go so have wifi anywhere I need. This is not a full blown netbook. But if you want to check emails etc, make notes on the word pad, listen to the music via a flash drive then its ideal. Read the instructions that come with it it is very basic but ideal as a back as a part time student it has proved very handy when my old desk top was being repaired.
update to save word pad you need to go to file, select save as,a small inner screen pops up saying save as you want to click on the file with the green arrow , then comes up my computer the 2gb onboard storage is under flash 2, click on this, it then takes you to a different screen and you then type in the name of the document you want to save, press ok once this has been done. to check this has workedd close word pad and go to desktop and click my computer, click on flash2 and there is your document. I found this out after my first attempt didnt save but the way i have just described does and yes its still there the next time you switch on. I have used this to make notes for my university courses and you can swap docs between other more advanced netbooks etc via flash drive you need to save in hmtl plain. This disgo 3000 also supports sd cards up to 8gb, i currently use a 4gb and a 4gb flash drive to move things around from this to my bigger pc.
Sorry to hear about others who have not been so lucky as me with this great little very basic netbook. But hope the above helps.
Value for Money July 5, 2010 Wendy John 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I purchased this machine a few weeks ago and have nothing but praise for it, it's small enough to carry round in a small pouch and is ideal for email etc. when you are out and about. It really is fast and excellent value for the money.

Save an extra hundred quid and buy a proper netbook. Mine keeps dropping the wi-fi connection, and its inability to run flash makes web browsing painful. Could never get it to connect to my mail server. And after only a short time you will wish that you had a decent about of storage.
