i got this for christmas a couple of years ago and i am now going to get the itouch it so much better
Excellent January 10, 2010 N. Trew (UK) Have used this player non-stop for the past couple of years. You get the quality you expect from a Creative product. Sound quality is excellent, easy to use, never had any hint of a problem. Expandable using an SD card really useul.
One of the best things I ever bought. December 19, 2009 Lena W (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Honestly this is one of the best items I have ever bought...
I have dropped this mp3 player into water twice, and BOTH times it started working again when it dried out! I have actually spilled drinks on it by accident too, and 2 years later it still works perfectly. It seems to be one of the most robust products I have owned.
The only time it has broken is if it crashes, and then there is a 'reset' button on the side to twice it back on again.
Having had this product working for more than 2 years, I am hoping to keep it working for many more... Definately value for money, due to the fact it will last so long, so I would really recommend it to anyone.
A good little player... November 29, 2009 Krupskaya (United Kingdom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The small size of this player is great and the quality of the screen amazing. The sound quality is excellent too. The unit is shipped with little, or in my case no charge so wouldn't turn on or be recognised by my laptop. If this happens to you don't panic and assume the player is broken! If you plug it in to the USB, after a little while the blue light at the side of the on/off switch starts blinking gently and the screen comes to life. It needs a good four hour charge initially and then three or four complete discharge/recharge cycles to condition the battery properly.
Don't assume that just because your player is new it will have the latest firmware installed. I checked and my new player's firmware was seriously out of date. Just download the rescue tool from the Creative website and this will install the latest firmware.
Contrary to what some reviewers say it is plenty loud enough (if you're using decent earphones) unless you want to blow your eardrums out! I am very pleased with my purchase. I didn't bother installing the supplied software - Vista recognised it immediately and I just synch it with Windows Media Player. Only four stars from me though I'm afraid. It freezes when transferring large amounts of data - a simple pin in the reset hole (at the bottom) sorts this out. Also it gets nowhere near the fabled 25 hours playing time. More like ten or eleven, which can be irritating. Also the memory card does not integrate it's content with the main menu - Creative what were you thinking of??!! Also don't assume any memory card will be fully compatible with the player. Some are, some aren't. Check Creative's website to check exactly which cards are definitely compatible. In addition the clock seems to have a mind of it's own.
It needs decent headphones, which contrary to a previous reviewer still allow reception from the radio. These greatly improve the sound quality and comfort. A pair of headphones can make or beak a player and the sound that this player is capable of demands a decent set. All in all despite it's faults this is a good little player.
Terrible November 10, 2009 Ms. Stephanie Ashley (England) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I got convinced to buy a creative zen instead of buying an I-Pod and how i wish i'd gone with my first instinct. I've never known something so bad. Anytime i put my zen on suffle it freezes and i have to re-set it! After 9 months of use (which i very rarely use it) i cannot even connect it to my PC as it freezes up everytime i plug it in which means i can't put any new music on it bearing in mind i only have about 250 songs on there (its a 4gb)! I would never ever buy anything from creative again as I looked on their website to help me solve this problem and it was about as helpful as a poke in the eye with a stick. Next time i think i'll just stick to I-pods
