Product Description
A rigid, low-density bamboo material used in the centre speaker's diaphragms helps achieve a clean, responsive sound. Vocals are pure and clear, and dialog is crisp and easy to understand. Creating an HD image from a non-HD source, it requires obtain as much information as possible about each pixel in the original image. In the up-conversion process, the SC-PT467 calculates eight pixels in the horizontal direction and eight in the vertical direction at the same time using a high-speed algorithm. The information obtained in this process is used to create smooth, natural-looking, high-resolution 1080p images. Just slip your iPod into the built-in cradle and enjoy. With the home cinema system's awesome picture and sound quality, you'll love listening to the music and watching the images on your iPod. There are no iPod or USB cables to connect, so it's super easy and your room stays tidy and uncluttered. Panasonic's home cinema sound system is a great way to listen to the music on your iPod. The list of songs on your iPod can be displayed on the TV screen, and you can use the remote control from the home theater or a VIERA TV to select and play them. # Front Speaker Dimensions: Width - 9.2cm Depth - 9.5cm Height - 14.2cm # Centre Speaker Dimensions: Width - 27.0cm Depth - 9.5cm Height - 9.4cm # Surround Speaker Dimensions: Width - 9.2cm Depth - 9.5cm Height - 14.2cm # Subwoofer Speaker Dimensions: Width - 15.3cm Depth - 25.7cm Height - 41.5cm

3 out of 5 stars Great sound, but some issues to be aware of.   May 10, 2009

I've had this system for a few weeks now and have given most of it's features a good run through - although I've yet to use the FM radio other than to tune it. My set-up is a Panasonic TH-37PX80 Plasma TV and a Sony PS3. I really have little to add about the quality of the sound that hasn't already been mention. Apparently you can upgrade this system to 7.1 by buying an additional wireless set - good luck finding anywhere that sells it though! While I certainly don't regret buying this system, (especially given I got it at a significantly discounted price) there are a lot of issues I would have like to have been aware of in advance:

Wireless speakers: As others have mentioned, the rear speakers connect to a wireless unit rather than being individually wireless. This unit is about 6 inches square, (pretty bulky considering) it's made of a rather cheap feeling plastic and can get very hot. Be careful not to have the speaker wires too close to/touching the power cable or you may occasionally notice it picks up a rapid ticking noise at low volumes. Another issue with the wireless is it operates across 3 channels over a frequency range of 2.4-2.4835GHz - which regularly causes conflicts with the wireless connection on my laptop.

iPod: I hope, when you bought your iPod you kept the dock-adaptor insert that came with it, or you don't already have an iPod dock which currently uses it, as Panasonic hasn't included one. On plugging your iPod into the dock, the Reciever takes over, 'Panasonic' appears on the iPod screen and the click wheel is disabled. This means you have to navigate it on-screen, which would be great if the interface was anything like iTunes. It isn't. It only displays 8 artist/album/track names on screen at a time - meaning by way of an example I have to slowly trawl (there's a slight response lag) through 108 'pages' of artists. Tiresome to say the least.

Viera Link: This proves to be more of an irritant than any practical use if like me, the only other piece of Viera equipment you have is the TV. Turning the TV on will occasionally cause the Receiver to turn itself on a few seconds later and switching the TV to the Receiver's assigned AV input. This auto-switching function is common with most AV units of course, except they don't turn usually themselves on.

Remote: The number of functions massively out-strip the number of buttons available on the remote. With the bulk of the 'settings' assigned to the bottom 8 buttons, meaning you just have to memorise what they all do as they didn't have space to write them all on.

Main Reciever Unit: Some cosmetic issues; the front is split into 3 sections, each of which is made from a slightly different type of plastic. The DVD tray is a thin sliver of really cheap feeling plastic, it doesn't have any substance to it. Both points are quite disappointing given the price.

There were 3 main reasons for me buying this system. 1. Wireless rear speakers. 2. Integrated iPod connectivity. 3. Viera link. All three of which have proved to be a disappointment to one degree or another. Overall it's a genuinely quality piece of kit severely let down by a seemingly rushed design phase.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent for the price   March 29, 2009

This product sounds excellent for the money. It's really easy to set up and only took around 15-20 minutes. The bass is more than adequate for a 3 bedroom semi detached house. Anything more and you simply would not use it. It would even be fine for a much larger house.

There are a few negatives for me which is why I only gave it four stars!
1-The back wireless speaker wires are simply not long enough. They are very limited. 2-I bought this system because I have an Ipod Touch. The ipod sounds great but when your playing your music the album artwork does not show on the ipod! You get a white screen. It's a real shame. 3-You do seem to get some feedback through the wireless speakers as well, it does seem to go after a while.

Overall you will not be disapointed with this system.

I bought this system and installed it in less than an hour. The sound is great. I keep thinking there's somebody at the door but its just the surround speakers kicking in. The Sub woofer has a deep base tone, which can be adjusted. The 2 back speakers do have a single cable linked to a central receiver which needs to be plugged in, but not to the DVD player. Therefore no cables running around the room. I'm very happy with the Panasonic quality sound. Satellite speakers are 15x9x9 cm in size. One central speaker I've mounted on the wall just under the TV this provides the voice sound which really is clear. Not yet used the iPOd dock but it looks straight forward and is located on a drop down panel on the front of the DVD. Would have been 5 stars if the back cables were a tad longer but that's a minor flaw.

4 out of 5 stars Super Sound System   February 7, 2009

This is a super sound system. The wireless rear speakers are great but please note that they are connected to each other and to the receiving box by cable, only the link to the main unit is wifi.
The speakers can be awkward to place, as they don't have any stands, but in all other respects this is a fantastic sound system.
