Amazon.co.uk Review The Snow Patrol we meet on A Hundred Million Suns is a band facing the same dilemma that Coldplay met on 2008's Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends; having conquered the world with a rousing, melancholy brand of MOR indie, where now? On the surface, A Hundred Million Suns seems to suggest, nowhere especially new: producer Jacknife Lee, who first worked with the band on 2003's Final Straw and went on to work with the likes of U2 and REM returns to the fold; and an opening brace of songs suggest that a successful formula--chiming guitars, gentle builds, and Gary Lightbody's quavering, tremulous vocal--persists. Still, "Take Back The City", a windswept, electronic-tinged rocker, rather does for this band what "Dakota" did for Stereophonics, proving that a spot of sleek, synthetic motorik is not beyond their grasp, and there's a new, bright optimism to Lightbody's lyrics that sets the likes of "The Planets Bend Between Us" in light relief to some of Snow Patrol's earlier work. If you want experiment, though, you'll have to wait until the closing "The Lightning Strike", a 16-minute track in three parts that investigates Phillip Glass-style minimalism and electronic beats with some aptitude. --Louis Pattison

VERY DISAPPOINTED SNOW PATROL FAN... June 26, 2009 J. Standfield (UK) Not much I can say really, just VERY disappointed with this album. Have a lot of respect for the band and love their first 2 albums, have also seen them live and they are awesome.
BUT... none of the tracks stand out for me on this album, all rather lacklustre and just a bit "Dido". I can't help wonder if they had to rush the album out for some strange reason, or perhaps just couldn't be bothered...much of it sounds like music from a life insurance advert.
Come back Snow Patrol. Please.
Best Album I've Heard for Ages ... June 10, 2009 Emile AULD (Manchester) This is the first Snow Patrol Album I've ever heard, so I wasn't handicapped by high expectations from listening to their previous stuff.
I've started listening to the earlier albums now, but not enough to really compare them yet.
If this Album is regarded as bland, then all I can say is that Snow Patrol's bland stuff is way better than most other people's good stuff.
The vocals are amazing. The harmonies and melodies just blew me away.
There are some really strong tracks on the album. My favourites are 'If there's a Rocket Tie Me to It', 'Take Back The City', 'Lifeboats' and the first part of 'The Lightning Strike'.
There were a couple of tracks that were weaker than the rest for me 'Engines' and 'Disaster Button', but even these were OK.
Forget all the Doom Merchants who are claiming that this is a Dud Album.
Listen to it, and make your own mind up.
Loving these guys June 7, 2009 Verve (Glasgow) Liked the earlier stuff too. I really recommend. Also: Day & Age The Killers
Snow Patrol just keep getting beter May 18, 2009 G. Johnson (Netherlands) Eat your heart out Cold Play this Cd is a collection of original, rocking, ghostly songs, without being commercial, that shows how British music leads and the rest can only follow.
Fantastic May 17, 2009 Steve As always snow patrol managed to bring us another superb album. I really would recommend this, its a brilliant album!
