Amazon.co.uk Review The Snow Patrol we meet on A Hundred Million Suns is a band facing the same dilemma that Coldplay met on 2008's Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends; having conquered the world with a rousing, melancholy brand of MOR indie, where now? On the surface, A Hundred Million Suns seems to suggest, nowhere especially new: producer Jacknife Lee, who first worked with the band on 2003's Final Straw and went on to work with the likes of U2 and REM returns to the fold; and an opening brace of songs suggest that a successful formula--chiming guitars, gentle builds, and Gary Lightbody's quavering, tremulous vocal--persists. Still, "Take Back The City", a windswept, electronic-tinged rocker, rather does for this band what "Dakota" did for Stereophonics, proving that a spot of sleek, synthetic motorik is not beyond their grasp, and there's a new, bright optimism to Lightbody's lyrics that sets the likes of "The Planets Bend Between Us" in light relief to some of Snow Patrol's earlier work. If you want experiment, though, you'll have to wait until the closing "The Lightning Strike", a 16-minute track in three parts that investigates Phillip Glass-style minimalism and electronic beats with some aptitude. --Louis Pattison

This is the good stuff February 22, 2010 BernieU (Ipswich, Suffolk) When you tire of all the heavily hyped product force fed to you recently, just play A Hundred Million Suns and remember...songs,tunes...this is what music is supposed to be. Snow Patrol, you know it makes sense.
snow patrol -all sounds a bit like you've heard it all before? February 13, 2010 Mr. Brian J. Sanderson (UK) It might be me and my age (52) but I was a little dissappointed with this album. There are 3 or 4 good songs but the rest do sound like they follow the Snow patrol formula, fast strumming, build up, rather dull vocals and a good hook for a chorus. I would hope that they would develop a bit more. Obviously at the right place and time - eg a live gig , that is probably great but on an album it does all sounds a bit like you've heard it all before.Am I becoming a grumpy old man !???
Quality February 6, 2010 aegeanglo I think this is Snow Patrol's best album yet. Snow Patrol are brilliant at writing good lyrics and amazing tunes. I have favourite songs from their previous albums such as Chocolate, Run, Shut Your eyes, Make this go on forever and I loved the albums they were on but the songs on those albums didn't seem to fit together as well as this one. The songs on this album seem to be part of one story and in my opinion that is what makes a good album. Although Crack the Shutters and If there's a rocket tie me to it are immediate standouts however if you're looking for a song as big as Run or Chasing Cars you could be disappointed. But if you're looking for an album full of quality music this is for you. Apart from Lifeboat and The Golden Floor, I especially recommend "The Lightning Strike", the lyrics are fantastic (far more imaginative and poetic than most rock bands out there) and intertwine with the music so well. I'd say this 3-part song is their best yet and is of pure genius.
A Million stars... January 5, 2010 S Parmar Brilliant Album, absolutely brilliant. Have bought previous Snow Patrol albums but this is the best so far. Well worth buying.
Adored this. November 29, 2009 n. o. t. shakespeare (europe) Oh, Snow Patrol have hit it out of the park again with this spectacular new record. Each song was epic, perfectly crafted and beautiful to listen to.
