| Customer Reviews: Great viewing November 13, 2009 UKRosie (London) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I know Echo Beach wasn't officially a success and only one series was made but I loved it and loved seeing the scenes of Looe and Watergate Bay in Cornwall. Jason Donovan is still gorgeous! Moving Wallpaper was one of the funniest things on TV and complemented Echo Beach really well.
Shame on ITV for this below standard set May 16, 2008 Ben Benji (The Midlands) 7 out of 13 found this review helpful
My review is based upon having had a quick look at a few episodes of echo beach and comparing it to the transmitted episode of episode 4.
I really liked echo beach and Moving Wallpaper so bought this set the other day. What a let down! The 'previously' recaps at the start of each episode are gone. The music has been changed. eb had a lot of current music used in it and it would appear that a lot or all of it has been changed. As episode 4 goes into the ad break a song plays which continues to play during the eb logo card. When the show returns from the ad break we get a piece of eb signature music over a scene where one of the characters is drinking from a bottle near the harbour. On the dvd set replacement music plays and bleeds into the next scene of the girl drinking. The eb music string is missing. A later scene set during a party also has differnet music. You would have thought that itv would have secured the music rights for both the tv and dvd versions of the show.
Also, this set contains no subtitles. A prime time itv show released on dvd and it contains no subtitles. Shame on you itv. You release a good show on dvd and treat it like dirt.
If you liked the music used on eb wait for a repeat and record it off the tv (that's assuming itv bought the music rights to future repeats).
Moving Wallpaper is the only reason to watch Echo Beach March 11, 2008 Rosey Lea (london, UK) 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
Echo Beach is pretty much drival, but Moving Wallpaper is the funniest, and best written, comedy ITV have come up with for years.
I'd buy Moving Wallpaper on it's own, but the humour is amplified by watching how the events in Moving Wallpaper impact on Echo Beach. Even the most casual comments in Moving Wallpaper can have a knock on effect on Echo Beach, and looking out for these hilarious tie-ins is the only reason to watch the soap itself.
quite simply phenomenal March 10, 2008 Mrs. A. M. Persey (devon) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Moving Wallpaper has to be the best television satire since Drop the Dead Donkey. The cast is fantastic- Jonathan Pope will soon take his place along with Gene Hunt in the list of most iconic tv characters, Raquel Cassidy jsut oozes venom as tv exec Nancy Weeks, Lucy Liemann (who i had never heard of before) is brilliant as the multi tasking script editor...actually every single member of the Moving Wallpaper cast is fantastic. The show is just soooo funny (there are dozens of killer one liners- especially from 'The Jonathan Pope') and wonderfully shot.
Echo Beach could just be viewed as a normal surf and scandal drama, (albeit one that has the most stunning aerial shots and graded film) but it is the links in with Moving Wallpaper (e.g. the relationship between Jonathan and Sam is perhaps an analogy of Susan and Dan.) that are so devestatingly brilliant. I cannot recommend this show enough, by far and a way the most innovative and funniest comedy on tv in donkey's years!
