Crikey – after not showing any interest in carrying the iPhone 3GS when Orange, Vodafone and Tesco broke O2’s monopoly on the handset and failing to announce any iPad broadband deals, T-Mobile has just announced it’s to carry the iPhone 4.
A VERY brief announcement on their press website reads:
“June 8 2010: T-Mobile UK will launch iPhone 4, the thinnest smartphone in the world with the highest resolution display ever built into a phone, in the coming weeks. Further information on launch timings, pricing and tariff plans will be revealed in due course.”
This deal leaves 3 as the only major UK network not carry the iPhone but surely their support for iPad suggests they can’t be far from agreeing terms with Apple?
Perhaps it’s this wider competition which is causing O2 to be so much more generous to customers and provide a (as yet unrevealed) upgrade option – something they steadfastly refused to do last year.
