BBC Worldwide has announced the sale of Doctor Who to Australia’s ABC TV.
The sale was announced by Julie Dowding, BBC Worldwide’s Head of Sales, Australasia who said “Doctor Who is one of the most significant BBC dramas of the year. It’s the ultimate adventure series with the ultimate cast. We’re very happy that it’s come to earth in Australia,”
ABC TV’s Head of Programming, Marena Manzoufas, said “The series has fantastic storylines and production values. I am in no doubt that a whole new Australian audience will be attracted to the series.”
ABC will be screening Doctor Who in mid-May 2005.
The show has already been licensed to Prime Television in New Zealand for the series, CBC in Canada and to Canal Jimmy in Italy.
