Topping the UK box office for the third week running, Hammer’s The Woman in Black has become the highest grossing British horror of the past 20 years.
The film has now taken over £14m in the UK, while in the US it has earned more than £50m.
Its box office success means the film is now more successful than Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Interview with a Vampire and 28 Days Later.
Starring Daniel Radcliffe, the film has been produced by Hammer, part of the Exclusive Media group.
Simon Oakes, Hammer CEO and Vice Chairman of Exclusive Media, said the film’s success “is an important achievement that affirms the re-birth of Hammer.”
Oakes added: “We are continuing to develop exciting and intelligent genre films this year such as The Quiet Ones and Gaslight, both of which will shoot in the UK.”
