Handsome Devil, which got its English premiere at the BFI Flare festival, is getting a UK cinema release on April 28.
Writer/director John Butler (The Stag) returns with a charming story of the unlikely friendship between two boarding school roommates – music-mad Ned (Fionn O’Shea) and macho rugby player Conor (Nicholas Galitzine).
In this funny and observant coming-of-age tale, the boys take an instant dislike to each other but are encouraged by their English teacher (Andrew Scott) to find their own voices and defy the status quo.
HANDSOME DEVIL features a top-tier Irish cast, including Andrew Scott (Hamlet, The Stag, Sherlock), Moe Dunford (Patrick’s Day, Vikings) and Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones), alongside emerging talents Galitzine and O’Shea.
The supporting cast includes Ardal O’Hanlon (Death in Paradise, Father Ted), Amy Huberman (Striking Out, The Stag) and Ruairi O’Connor (Delicious, What Richard Did). The film was produced by Rebecca O’Flanagan and Rob Walpole for Treasure Entertainment (The Stag, Viva), with support from Irish Film Board.
