News reaches us that a planned ‘self-help’ book from Avenue Q‘s Trekkie Monster has been banned by a government department for being “too real”.
The book, Masturbation: The Medicine of Life, was announced last month and was intended to be first in a series of books from the New Yorker who is currently appearing in the West End version of the hit musical.
However publishers Bad Idea Bears have now advised us that the book is to be pulled following a ruling from the department of Decency and Moral Upstanding.
In a statement the department said: “although we live in a free and democratic society here in the UK, the content of Masturbation: Medicine of Life was simply too filthy and disgustingly crude to allow a place in the public domain. Nobody needs to know how a bucket of ice and some fake snow can assist in one’s personal sex life”.
Responding to enquiries from this site, Trekkie commented “Me am very upset to hear about this development, and if me had any tissues left, they would be drying my eyes right now”.
When asked about why he thought the book had been banned the monster added: “For being too real? Me had found the secret – the meaning of life and the powers that be put a stop to it…they have strapped a chastity belt around my teachings”.
In a deliberate snub to the department, Trekkie and Bad Idea Bears are to risk contempt proceedings by publishing one further chapter from the book this Friday on the actor’s website medicineoflife.co.uk.
Trekkie is appearing in Avenue Q at Wyndham’s Theatre, Charing Cross Road until October 30th.
