Watching TV’s Judges and ex-judges

Sunday’s Strictly Come Dancing results show was pretty shameful, the judges and contestants need to accept that the voting public have a right to vote for they most like, including John Sergeant if they so wish.
Hearing judges and defeated ‘professionals’ criticising the public vote is pretty distasteful, if they don’t like taking part in a show where the judges play second fiddle to the viewers at home they should think twice before signing up to next year’s show.
Having previously been pretty disinterested in the outcome, I’m now hoping John, far from the best dancer but definitely the most entertaining contestant, makes it to the final.
After the mess which was Bonekickers I was pleased to see in Apparitions signs that BBC One hasn’t entirely forgotten how to commission decent, grown-up drama. Judge John Deed star Martin Shaw plays Father Jacob, a Roman Catholic Priest not entirely dissimilar from the Judge in his willingness to go poking his nose into dark corners in order to discover the truth.
Dark and disturbing, Apparitions has been a long time coming but the opening episode (still available on the iPlayer) shows the old maxim about good things being worth waiting for still holds true.
By the way, if you’ve enjoyed the opening episode as much as I have you might be interested to know that the series is now available to pre-order on DVD.
John has been a gem from the start it’s no suprise the audience likes him…. he’s like a Winston Churchil Teddy Bear!
If the judges want John removed they have to arrange a 5 way tie of the leaders with John bottom as usual. Then, regardless of the viewer vote, John will make the bottom two; voila.
So the public are allowed to vote only when they agree with the judges?
Everyone signed up to rules allowing the public to decide the bottom two but as soon as the producers don’t get their preferred result people paid for by the Licence Fee are allowed to barrack the LF-paying voters with no sanctions.
I see that John Sergeant has quit the show, apparently he thinks he;s become a joke and other contestants have accused hime of turning the show into a Soap Opera…. No…. Really??? It’s reality TV it’s always been a soap opera.
Personally i’m sad to see him go the show should be just as much about the effort and determination not just talent
