The brilliance that is Batman Arkham Asylum is getting plenty of playtime on my PS3 at the moment. Given that most movie tie-in’s fall flat on their face its pretty astonishing its do good – but it’s not strictly a movie tie-in. The design, style and story all relate more to the comic book than the films… which given that I prefer the recent movies with Christian Bale is a surprise to me. While it’s true that some of the actual action may be repetitive the presentation of it is not, scenes (and I use that word purposefully) with the Scarecrow in particular are hugely impressive, sound visuals and action come together to make a truly fantastic game.
Trash panic

Trash Panic PS3
Trash Panic is a puzzle game created by Sony Entertainment Japan : I bought this bewildering game after trying out the demo a few months ago, at the time it seemed to be a well put together fun game. On paper that’s probably true.
The premise is simple, you have to dispose of a “Trash” items ranging from, chairs to cars in a bin… the challenge is that it won’t all fit so you have to smash, burn and rot items by carefully planning what to put where. It’s an entertaining and clever take on Tetris… but it’s also sadly hampered by a lack of checkpoints and savepoints… finishing level one doesn’t reward you with the oppourtunity to save… instead you have to complete all of the levels in a stage – no easy task when you consider how difficult individual levels can be. A game for sadists only!
Sturmovik
I came so close to buying this in ASDA last week, I finally managed to get the demo to play ball with my Thrustmaster Joystick and while it did make a big difference (virtually stall free in realistic mode) the rudder or “yaw” is horribly jumpy making it difficult to perfect long distance shots… this will be a “bargain bin” purchase for me.
