As someone who had been a long term fan of Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer series, I have to admit that in recent years EA Sports’ FIFA games have proved to be the more satisfying of the two main footy contenders.
As with previous generations the presentation in this game is superb with animation and player likenesses absolutely spot on. The commentary during the games is supplied by the Sky Sports duo of Andy Gray and Martin Tyler which helps to bring an added touch of authenticity.
This time around Electronic Arts have introduced an innovative 360 degree dribbling control system which makes the whole in game experience more rewarding and more realistic. Along with an updated version of Live Season which was introduced in FIFA 09 (now a pay service) there is an interesting spin on the Be A Pro mode which now enables players to download a “Game Face” for their virtual pro character.
There are a multitude of different game modes to choose from including Manager Mode; Be A Pro Seasons; Tournament Mode; Lounge Mode. Also included are different online modes where up to 20 players can play at the same time.
Konami will have to pull something pretty spectacular out of the hat to give this excellent release a run for it’s money.
