Christmas week will see BBC One serve up a feast of comedy as old favourites return to provide the festive cheer:
Catherine Tate Christmas Special
Catherine Tate arrives on BBC One bearing a great big, beautifully wrapped parcel, full to the brim with the nation’s favourite comedy characters.
Fans also get extra stocking-fillers in the shape of special guests George Michael, Kathy Burke and Tamzin Outhwaite.
Bernie the nurse invites a famous patient to the hospital karaoke party; Lauren spits some lyrics and learns to kayak; and Nan invites her daughter and new boyfriend over for Christmas dinner but just what will she be serving up with the turkey and plum pudding?
Extras Christmas Special
There’s “extra” Extras with this Christmas Special when Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Ashley Jensen return for a feature-length helping of the hit comedy.
Andy is now a big star with a hit TV show and a brand-new, hot-shot agent to replace the hapless Darren Lamb. But it’s not enough.
Meanwhile, Andy’s best friend Maggie’s luck has gone from bad to worse; she’s on the bread-line doing cleaning jobs to make ends meet.
The Omid Djalili Show
Omid Djalili treats viewers to a feast of sketches and stand-up, showing his talent for seeing the best and worst in cultural relationships, in the last episode of his comedy series.
Giving special insight into his comedy routines with an Iranian twist, Omid offers the audience a taste of his traditional “joke plus music” routine, and tells all about his additional services in after-show talks on the subject of multi-culturalism. He also touches on public perceptions of the Iraq War and so-called friendly fire, while discussing views on the rules of warfare.
My Family Christmas Special
When Susan announces that this Christmas there will be no tree, no decorations and, most importantly, no family, Ben thinks all his Christmases have come at once, in a festive helping of the sitcom starring Zo Wanamaker and Robert Lindsay, and guest starring John Challis.
Susan whisks Ben away to a relaxing retreat in the country where the rest of the Harper family can’t ruin his “festivity free” Christmas. However, Susan has secretly planned her own version of the perfect Christmas and arranges for the whole family to surprise a thoroughly relaxed Ben on the “big” day
Despite Susan’s insistence on making it a “family” Christmas, son Michael sneaks his new girlfriend into his room and daughter Janey introduces a new addition to the family.
With the Harpers all under one roof, will Ben or Susan manage to have the Christmas they dreamt of?
To The Manor Born
Penelope Keith and Peter Bowles reunite as the aristocratic Audrey fforbes-Hamilton and the dashing, self-made businessman Richard DeVere, as the classic British comedy To The Manor Born returns for a one-off special.
Viewers last saw Audrey and Richard in 1981, when the couple finally married following a turbulent relationship conducted over three much-loved and high-rating series.
A quarter of a century on, a major event threatens to disturb life at the estate in Grantleigh as the couple prepare to celebrate their Silver Wedding Anniversary.
With the help of her schoolfriend, Marjory (Angela Thorne), a fearless Audrey goes into battle to defend a community, safeguard 400 years of history and save her marriage.
