Bluefire adds ebook library support to iPad app

November 11, 2010 - Staff@seenituk

The Bluefire ebook app for iPad has been updated to support the borrowing of library books and developers are promising that the ability to purchase new titles via the app will be added soon.

The app, which allows the ‘side loading’ of ebooks protected by the industry standard Adobe DRM system, launched last month and alongside ‘txtr is only the second english language reader to allow users to read existing books purchased for standalone ereaders on the iPad.

A note within the app promises that the ability to buy books will soon be added to the app via a partnership with Booksonboard.com. Rival app ‘txtr already allows the purchasing of books via the app however most of these are currently German language titles.

So far no major ebook retailer has opted to open up their app and allow customers to access their existing titles alongside new purchases.
