Channel 5 brings milkshake! player to YouView

Aug 28, 2012 - Staff@seenituk

YouView has announced the addition of a new on-demand player offering content from Channel 5’s milkshake! strand of children’s programming.

Developed by BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Arqiva, BT and Talk Talk, YouView combines broadcast channels with broadband delivered content from catch-up services such as the BBC’s iPlayer and 4oD.

The partner ISPs are also making content available to their broadband customers while Sky has brought its new IPTV service NOW TV to the platform.

Announcing the arrival of the milkshake! player, YouView CEO Richard Halton said: “We’re very pleased to have milkshake! on board and that they have chosen YouView as the platform on which to launch their player.

“We want YouView to entertain the entire family and, with favourites such as Mr Men available on-demand, there is no doubt kids will love the latest addition to YouView. We look forward to welcoming other content providers onto the YouView platform in due course.”

Jessica Symons, Head of Children’s, Channel 5, added: “We’re delighted that milkshake’s wide variety of children’s programmes can be watched on demand with YouView.”

Last week Tristia Clarke, commercial director at YouView shareholder TalkTalk, told the Media Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival that more than 140 organisations have expressed an interest in joining YouView since it launched last month.
