Sky One’s hit US sitcom Modern Family continues tonight and we have a great new clip you can enjoy.

This week’s instalment focuses on the troubles and travails of fatherhood: what makes a good dad?

Phil, who comes with a cringe caution, teaches his son to take responsibility by buying him a new bike. When his son appears to disappoint, Phil’s decision to teach him a lesson backfires spectacularly.

Meanwhile, Jay’s bonding session with Manny isn’t successful. The naive youngster butts heads with his curmudgeonly stepdad and compares his real father to Superman. But Jay can only find one similarity: “They both landed in this country illegally”. When Manny is stood up on a trip to Disneyland, Jay proves that “ninety percent of being a dad is just showing up…”

The episode’s standout segment though is Mitchell and Cameron’s visit to a toddler playgroup. Mitchell doesn’t want their sexuality to be the elephant in the room, so instructs his partner to tone it down, including his outfit: “Paisley and pink… was there something wrong with the fishnet tank top?” Hilarity soon ensues, involving Cam’s obsession with Meryl Streep, a lot of dancing and the instalment’s most quotable quip: “You clipped my wings which you used to be the wind beneath.”

Modern Family Episode 2 airs at 8pm on Thursday 22nd October on Sky1.
