Doctor Who Joins Toys R Us Cardiff Celebrations

October 29, 2007 - Staff@seenituk

The Doctor Who merchandise bandwagon shows no signs of slowing with news that a Dalek and Sarah Jane’s trusted robotic dog K-9 are set to descend upon Toys R Us in Cardiff Bay next Saturday 3rd November.

The intergalactic visit comes as the toy giant celebrates its first year at its new Cardiff Bay location.

Doctor Who, which has used Cardiff Bay for filming locations, is currently battling it out with the Transformers as one of the best selling toy ranges this Christmas.

Over 24ft of display area (pictured above) at the Cardiff Bay store has been dedicated to one of the biggest Doctor Who product ranges in the UK.

Kevin O Sullivan, manager at the Cardiff Bay store said “Last year we had a Dalek and Cyberman re-enacting the Doomsday Scenario from the previous episode, the kids loved it and we keep getting asked for the Dalek to come back”.

“This year, we wont disappoint, it’s great the Dalek will be here to celebrate our first anniversary with us, plus K-9, which happens to be one of the biggest selling Doctor Who toys in the Cardiff store right now”.

Cardiff has been at the heart of Toys R Us since the first stores were opened in Britain 22 years ago.

Last year, the City Centre store was relocated to Cardiff Bay to make way for the massive redevelopment project taking place.

The Dalek, the Doctor’s deadliest enemy, will be appearing at the store at 9.30am and 10.30am on Saturday 3rd November. K-9 will be meeting and greeting customers as they arrive. Photo opportunities with the characters will be available for customers straight after each appearance.
