Doomsday, the final episode of the second series, was seen by an average of 7.7 million viewers according to unofficial overnight figures – an audience share of 43% – and at one point peaked at 8.3 million.
The success of the episode had serious consequences for ITV’s audience share which averaged just 3.2 million viewers(19%) for a repeat of share between 6.10pm and 8.30pm.
