Christopher Eccleston launched the new
series of Doctor Who with an appearance on BBC�s Breakfast show.
In response to a question comparing Doctor
message of “love life” and “accept
life in all it’s forms”.
Speaking of his encounters with fans Chris
they had been “unfailingly polite and gentle” and claimed to have “enjoyed
every encounter with them”.
Accepting that many fans will already have
a favourite Doctor he understood that fidelity and compared it to his own
preference for Sean Connery as James Bond but hoped to appeal to �8 to 12 year
olds� for whom he would their first Doctor.
He hopes that older fans will be “happy
with what I and we have done”.
In response to a question asking why he
took the role he said he said he wanted to show that he could play �funny and
charming� and wanted to experience the �privilege� of acting for children.
The interview also showed some high quality
effects footage of Rose (Billie Piper) witnessing an explosion in what appeared
to be a store.
In a later segment Billie Piper spoke of
her role as Rose Tyler and described the new series as �more domestic� in its
approach to families and relationships.
Noting that today�s kids will expect �big
scale effects� Billie boasted that the shows own effects �have moved on
